If you guys can make this better, that would completely perfect the game and make it the very best game on mobile for a very very very long time. It’s the worst feeling in the world and extremely annoying/aggravating.

Anyways, you can’t pause or exit for 1 second even just out of the app or phone lock and it’s the most frustrating thing ever when you get to round 78 and you are about to start kicking things up and it quites you for absolutely no reason. That is not the phone it is the game because I have an iPhone 6s and the person I try to play with has a galaxy 6 or 7 I can’t remember. If you get a notification, it disconnects. The multiplayer (co-op through Facebook) is complete garbage. I am level 70something and the only thing that makes me quit is that I get to the point where I’m on round 260 and the rounds take too long. So this game is one of the most addicting and thought inducing games I have ever played on the phone. This game is amazing-multiplayer needs work

I think that game ended up getting more out of this game's mechanics while it lasted.Five-star tower defense with unrivaled depth and replayability. I would contend that BTD5 is not as notable for what it itself is, but rather for what it represented and what it led to, which aside from its sequel also included BTD Battles, which took the gameplay of BTD5 and translated it into a rather interesting and wholly unique competitive multiplayer experience. The game is still packed with content, perhaps the map list is not as shocking now as it was when its sequel was only in its infancy, but it also doesn't nesscasarily translate to more fun with the more limited gameplay.

There's also a host of quirks that will pretty frequently get in the way of your enjoyment, like tower placement interrupted by round auto-start, or the game forcing you to use free monkeys before deploying paid ones. The best of specialties can become very centralizing to strategies, and others, like the Heli Pilot speciality, are just useless. Both of these are less numerous than Monkey Knowledge but generally far stronger than anything in that game. The game has two progression systems aside from tower unlocks, being token upgrades and speciality buildings. The design philosophy of entire towers like the Glue Gunner or the Bloonchipper just feel off, and those weaker towers that ended up returning in BTD6 really needed the reworks they ended up receiving to be fun to use. Upgrades like Triple Dart are very dominant on the cost efficency end and BTD5 doesn't have enough curveballs to challenge their use. This review is based on the mobile/steam versions.īalance is pretty wonky. A neat game for its time, it has mostly been superseded by its sequel in the years since thanks to its worse balance and weird progression systems.
